FAQs

What is the best age to start a child in dance?

Right now is the best age! We have seen students begin dance in their early teens and go on to have very successful dance careers. It’s also beneficial to place your child in a dance class as early as 12 months. You know your child best and know what he/she can handle. Many times a dance class is the first interaction a young child will have with an adult other than a family member.

Are your classes only for girls?

Absolutely not. All of our classes are Co-Ed. Everyone is always welcome in all of our classes!

How should I fix my child’s hair?

All hair must be worn off of the neck so the instructor may see the alignment of the neck and spine. No ponytails are allowed Ballet classes, only buns.

What if I miss a class?

We offer make-ups for missed classes in any other dance class! As long as your student meets the age requirements for that class, they can join a make-up class in the same style, or explore another style of dance if the class schedule allows. Email info@boostdanceacademy.com to reserve your make-up.

What are the policies regarding students before/after class and during class?

Classes start and end on time. Do not drop off a student more than 15 minutes early for class unless prior arrangements have been made with the front desk. Students who arrive more than 15 minutes late for class will not be allowed to participate in the class. Proper stretching and warm-up is a must before starting practice to ensure the dancer’s physical safety. Your child will be able to schedule a makeup in the event of a missed class.

Every child is expected to be picked up on time at the end of class. All of our instructors have following classes to prepare for.

Students are expected to follow the studio rules and listen to their instructor. Instructors give corrections to students to enhance their abilities and to ensure safety of the student and others around them. Students who are continually disruptive in class will be removed from the class for the day. Our motto: Safety First!

**For all students under the age of five, a parent or guardian is required to stay in our lobby area for the entirety of their class.

What happens if I’m running late to pick up my child from class?

Just give us a call and let us know! We completely understand that things happen. We will have your child stay at our front desk until you arrive. There is a $15 fee for anyone who is 15 minutes late picking up their child from class and a $1 fee for every minute after, until you arrive.

What days are you closed?

Holiday or prescheduled closings: Easter Weekend (Saturday before and the Sunday of Easter), The week of Spring Break, The week of Memorial Day (Saturday before Memorial Day through Friday following Memorial Day), Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Break (Wednesday before Thanksgiving - Sunday following Thanksgiving Day), Winter Break during December/January (the week of Christmas and New Year’s).

Weather related or unscheduled closings: BOOST Dance does not follow any school closing decisions. We will provide an announcement via email, website, and social media prior to the day’s classes if the facility is going to be closed. To avoid phone congestion please refer to our website or social media for updates regarding weather.

Are food and drinks allowed in the dance studio?

Absolutely NO food, drink, or chewing gum will be allowed inside the lobby or studio areas, with the exception of water. If dancers need a snack or drink you are welcome to enjoy the Vital Café area. Dancers are welcome to bring a water bottle with a lid to leave in the lobby outside of the classroom. This policy must be enforced to prevent spills and insects within the building.

Are parents allowed inside the dance studio to watch classes?

Unfortunately, for the safety of our students and instructors, as well as to reduce distractions within our classes, parents are not allowed inside the dance studio to watch classes. (*Dance With Me classes are exempt.) We have a lobby area for you to enjoy while you wait, with live video footage of the studio playing on our lobby TV. We also host a Spring recital and a Winter parent viewing every year, so you can see your dancer’s progress!

I think I left something at the studio. What should I do?

We suggest that valuable items not be brought to the studio. BOOST Dance is not responsible for any items lost or stolen. However, we do pick up any left items at the end of the night. If you think you may have left something here, please call/email the front desk as soon as possible to see if we may have found it. Unclaimed items are donated to charity at the end of each month.

WILL THERE BE A PERFORMANCE?

Yes! We offer a Visitor’s Day in December before the Winter/Holiday break to showcase all the hard work your dancer(s) have been putting into the semester! In May each year we put on a full Recital featuring each class. More information on Recital will be available soon!
